Course Overview

Our NPORS Safety Awareness Course, equivalent to the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment, is a comprehensive program designed to enhance safety knowledge on construction sites. Beyond benefitting plant operators, labourers completing this course can apply for the coveted CSCS Green Labourers Card, provided they pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Operatives Test.

NPORS Safety Awareness (S001) Course Overview

This course focuses on recognising potential hazards on construction sites and offers practical guidance to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues. It covers individual and employer responsibilities, empowering participants to take proactive measures if they perceive any risks to health and safety. Endorsed by Build UK, this course sets the standard for on-site safety training for all operatives.

Training Course Content

The Safety Awareness Course content is regularly updated to align with legislative changes and current practices, meeting the requirements of the United Kingdom Contractors Group Health & Safety Training Standard. Upon completion, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of:

  • The imperative to prevent accidents
  • Health and safety law
  • Their role in site control and management
  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Safe performance and seeking advice
  • Reporting unsafe acts to prevent accidents

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, operators must meet the following criteria:

  • Proof of CITB Health, Safety & Environmental Touch Screen Test: Operators must provide evidence of having passed the CITB health, safety, and environmental touch screen test within two years prior to their application.
  • Proficient Understanding of Spoken and Written English: A good command of spoken and written English is essential for effective participation in the training.
