Key Plant Mover Training Points
Upon successful completion of our course, candidates will master the following:
- Roles and responsibilities as a plant operator.
- Basic industry knowledge and current legislation.
- Conformance to manufacturers’ requirements outlined in the operator’s handbook.
- Identification and understanding of major machine components and their functions.
- Safe operation of the machine, including controls and maneuvers over varying terrain.
- Thorough pre-operational checks and proper use of PPE for Plant Movers.
- Machinery preparation for movement and safe operation in both forward and reverse gears.
- Conducting necessary safety checks in the working area.
- Correct storage and transportation of machinery attachments (buckets, forks, breakers, etc.).
- End-of-shift and shutdown procedures.
N132 Course Assessment
Candidates undergo a comprehensive evaluation process, including a multiple-choice theory test and a practical test to demonstrate their acquired skills.
NPORS Certification
Successful candidates receive an NPORS ‘National Plant Operators Registration Scheme’ card upon completion. Those seeking the CSCS-embossed Red Trained Operator card (2-year validity) must hold a valid CITB HSE test. During the subsequent 2 years, candidates can pursue the relevant plant operations NVQ for an upgrade to the Blue Competent Operator card (5-year validity).
Alternatively, candidates without a valid CITB HSE test receive the traditional 3-year NPORS operator card (5-year NPORS Card available on request only), though it lacks the CSCS logo.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should have a proficient understanding of spoken and written English. Interpreters are available upon request for non-English speakers. Additionally, candidates must provide their own appropriate PPE for training and testing purposes.
