Welcome to our NPORS Excavator Micro 360 (Up to 1 Tonne) training course, designed to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to safely operate and maintain an Excavator Micro 360.
Course Highlights
This course provides essential skills for micro-excavator operation, focusing on key aspects of the industry. Participants will gain industry understanding, learning about associated hazards and their responsibilities as plant operators. The program emphasises machine familiarisation, covering the manufacturer’s handbook and major components of the specific machine. Safety and pre-operational checks, including personal protective equipment (PPE) maintenance, are highlighted. Operating procedures, worksite tasks, and attachments are thoroughly addressed, ensuring participants can safely manoeuvre the machine and perform excavating tasks. The course concludes with end-of-shift procedures, preparing participants for a comprehensive skill set in plant operation.
Course Objectives
Participants in this course will:
- Industry Understanding:
- Gain a basic understanding of the industry, associated hazards, and their responsibilities as a plant operator.
- Machine Familiarisation:
- Acquire a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific machine to be used.
- Identify major components of the machine and explain their functions.
- Locate and identify steering, driving, and braking controls, explaining their functions.
- Safety and Pre-Operational Checks:
- Identify and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for micro excavator use.
- Conduct thorough pre-operational checks in line with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
- Operating Procedures:
- Safely mount and dismount the machine.
- Start and stop the engine, and safely move the machine on and off, ensuring safety protocols.
- Configure the machine for travel and maneuver it safely across various terrains in open and confined areas.
- Worksite Tasks:
- Conduct necessary safety checks at the work area.
- Maneuver the machine to the work area and configure it correctly for excavating tasks.
- Perform excavating tasks, load materials onto transporting vehicles or into containers, and reinstate excavation, grade, and level ground.
- Attachments and Procedures:
- Fit and remove attachments as required for the task at hand.
- End-of-Shift Procedures:
- Carry out all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures in accordance with safety guidelines.
Course Duration and Assessment
- Duration:
- The course duration will be determined based on a learner analysis, tailoring the training to the experience level of the participants.
- Experienced operators can opt for a one-day Experienced Worker Assessment (Test Only).
Certification
Upon successful completion of the NPORS Excavator Micro 360 (Up to 1 Tonne) training course, participants will receive an NPORS certification, validating their ability to safely operate and maintain an Excavator Micro 360.
